Security and the Individual’s Right for Freedom
Through the use of the Department of Homeland Security individual States are handing over their sovereignty to the federal government.
When DHS steps into any State, it has preemptive power over all State and Local law enforcement. Even the County Sheriff must submit to the DHS.
In fact, the Governor has no authority in the face of DHS. This is not only constitutionally wrong, it is scary to consider. The security of South Carolinians is the primary responsibility of our Governor, General Assembly and local Sheriff.
I understand that in the event of invasion or insurrection our State may need the assistance of other States and even the federal government, but they should never have the power over our own elected law enforcement, Legislative and Executive bodies.
